Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and their families.

We're Not Crazy!

The results of the "1 Car, Are We Crazy" poll are in.  9 out of 10 people agree that downsizing to one car is a good thing. Apparently we're not crazy.

The one person who voted "I could care less" could probably care less that they were voted against 9 to 1.

We'll be spending the next couple months narrowing down a long list of cars that we're considering. A few that are atop the list so far include the Toyota Prius, Subaru Outback, and the Honda Element.

Theresa's London Trip

Theresa's First International Business Trip

Theresa left yesterday for her first international business trip. She'll be in London for most of the week with a short tip to Hanover Germany. As you can see from the photo below she's not very excited about it.

Our Pledge To Become A 1 Car Family

We, Theresa and Ryan, are pledging to become a 1 car family by 2011. We currently have a 2007 Nissan Murano and a 2007 Toyota Tundra. The lease on the Murano will be up in about a year and we will not be replacing it. The truck will be traded in for a smaller, more fuel efficient automobile. Why are we doing this? We'll tell you why:

Bikes
We are both love riding bikes. Ryan is planning on commuting to work on his bike as much as he can, so his truck would be sitting uselessly in the driveway. We both plan on using bikes to do our everyday errands like grocery shopping and running to ABC to get a six pack of Coors Light or a bottle of Bogle chardonnay.

Marriage
We're married, and like most married couples we do just about everything together. The only thing that really separates us is work. We only use 1 car at a time on the weekends. The other just sits there wasting money.

Money
Enough said.

Health
Let's face it, riding bikes is healthier than sitting on your cheeks in a car...unless you get hit by a car. That would suck.

Please Forgive Us For We Are Lazy

We have a confession to make. 

"Please forgive us for we have been lazy"

It's true, we've done a lousy job keeping our website, TheSchroderFamily.com, up to date. I know it's been a long while since our last update, and you're probably going through withdraws, but the wait is finally over. We've updated the site design, added a few new pages, and are ready to start posting updates again.

We've opted for a very minimalistic design with very few colors and widgets in an attempt to emphasize the content rather than distract the readers with wild widgets and crazy colors.

We've also added a "Photos" page and a "Connect" page. The "Photos" page will contain our most recent photo galleries and the "Connect" page has information on how to connect with us via the web.

We hope you like the new site as much as we do. Let us know what you think.
